To
increase its knowledge base and depth of available expertise, the board
supports the use of groups and committees of qualified advisors. Committee
advisors may be board members, members at large, and/or current SECOME members.
These committees have been created to carry out SECOME goals and objectives.
Development Committee: This committee is responsible of grant
and funding research, private donor, sponsorship, grant and funding requests
and writing, and allocating student scholarships:
- Review student applicants and make
recommendations to the board to award student scholarships.
- Conduct grant research and writing. This
committee shall work closely with the Marketing and Communications Committee to
ensure accurate communication at all times.
- Maintain active spreadsheets of
possible donors/funders with current action items and description.
Federal/State Legislature &
Partnership Committee: This
committee is responsible of keeping SECOME up-to-date with the most recent news
at the state and federal levels pertaining to higher education and the
military-affiliated student. This committee is also responsible of establishing
state and federal partnerships within the member states of SECOME—taking into
consideration the direct relationship of how partnerships can enhance
services/programs to members, as well as achieve the mission.
- Committee members should attend
state-level events as members’ schedules allow.
- Work closely with the Membership and
Outreach Committee.
- Maintain active spreadsheets of
prospective and current partners and events.
Marketing and Communications Committee: This committee is responsible for all
advertising, marketing, communications, public relations, maintaining social
media sites and the website:
- Work closely with the other committees
to ensure current and accurate communication and imaging.
- This committee shall meet all SECOME
standards, and use the official logo and image at all times.
- Maintain the SECOME website and all
social media accounts.
- Create and send out quarterly
newsletters to the SECOME membership.
Membership & Outreach Committee: This committee is responsible for
membership recruitment and to enhance the SECOME image within the member states
of SECOME:
- Ensure that the SECOME image is present on all military installations within the member states of SECOME.
- Recommend sponsorship and marketing
opportunities to the board.
- Work closely with the Marketing and
Communications Committee to obtain marketing and outreach materials.
- Work closely with the Federal/State
Legislature & Partnership Committee to ensure maximum outreach.
- Maintain active spreadsheets of
prospective and current members.
Special Events Committee: This committee is responsible of all
SECOME-related events held within the member states of SECOME, as well as the
annual symposium.
- Ensure all board members are active as
the committee sees fit.
- Responsible of planning all approved
special events, including the annual symposium.
- Work closely with the Executive Board
regarding event budgeting. Ensure that all events stay within the proposed
budgeting.
- Recommend event ideas, taking into
consideration the SECOME mission and how we can support higher educational
institutions, military-affiliated students, and military installations within
the member states of SECOME.
- Create and maintain special event plans
and schedules.
